This study explores the integration of mindfulness-based programs into the mental health management system of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. As global concerns over military personnel’s mental well-being grow, mindfulness has gained recognition as an effective approach for addressing stress, depression, PTSD(Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), and adaptation challenges. By analyzing the SWOT(Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces and drawing insights from successful implementations in the U.S. and U.K. militaries, this study assesses the applicability of the IAA (Intention, Attention, Attitude) model for Korean service members. A tailored mindfulness program was designed and implemented through an online course targeting military students on leave, aiming to reduce stress during service and support post-discharge adaptation. The findings highlight the necessity of culturally adapting mindfulness training for Korea’s unique conscription-based military structure. Additionally, the study underscores the need for large-scale validation and policy development to facilitate systematic implementation across the armed forces.
